Our story
A long-standing passion for wellbeing
It all started in 1870, when Alfred Slapps Barrett opened a small grocery shop in Bishop's Stortford, England. In 1920, William Holland joined the business, and together they laid the foundations of what is today Holland & Barrett, Europe's leading retailer of vitamins, minerals and natural supplements.
More than a century later we still believe the same: wellbeing starts with nature. Every product goes through strict quality controls and our team is continuously trained to support you on every step of your health journey.
Today we operate in 16 countries with more than 1,300 stores. In Spain we trade as Futorvit S.L., based in Málaga, with shops in Marbella, Fuengirola and Torrevieja.
Our values
What drives us every day
Four principles guide every decision we make, from choosing a new product to the welcome you get in store.
-
Nature first
We favour natural-origin ingredients, clean formulations and vegan and sustainable options wherever possible.
-
Uncompromising quality
Every batch is rigorously tested. Only what we'd put on our own shelves makes it onto yours.
-
Whole-body wellbeing
We care for body and mind: nutrition, sport, natural beauty and rest are part of the same balance.
-
Expert advice
Our team is continuously trained to answer your questions with rigour and warmth, in store and online.
