Holland & Barrett Lutigold Lutein 6mg - 100 Softgels

• Contains natural carotenoids.

Holland & Barrett Lutigold Lutein capsules contain plant-based carotenoids: lutein and zeaxanthin, the pigments in fruits and vegetables that give them a yellow or reddish hue. Lutein is not produced in the body, so it can only be obtained through diet and lutein supplements.

Carotenoids cannot be produced in our body; Therefore, you may find it helpful to take carotenoid supplements and be sure to eat carotenoid-rich foods such as parsley, spinach, kale, broccoli, and peas. Although carotenoids form yellow and reddish hues in some fruits and vegetables, they are primarily found in dark green leafy vegetables. The dark green lutein and zeaxanthin pigments are simply disguised by the chlorophyll of green leafy vegetables.

As we age, our body's natural supply of lutein decreases and since lutein is not produced in the body, it is important to take it every day. If you eat fruits and vegetables every day, you may already have good levels of carotenoids in your body, and if not, you could perhaps benefit from a Holland & Barrett Lutigold lutein supplement.
